The M.A. Interdisciplinary Studies in Mathematics Education will:
- Deepen and broaden K -8 teachers' understanding of the mathematical content in the elementary and middle school curricula.
- Deepen and broaden K-8 teachers' understanding of issues related to teaching and learning mathematics at the elementary and middle school levels.
- Develop K-8 teachers' understanding of mathematics education research and its relationship to practice at the elementary and middle school levels.
- Develop K-8 teachers' ability to effectively communicate issues in mathematics education at the elementary and middle school levels.
- Develop K-8 teachers' skills as teacher leaders in mathematics education at the· elementary and middle school levels.
