Funding for Graduate Student Research and Conferences

Current graduate students may apply for funds up to $200 for reimbursement for conference presentation and travel or research (e.g. travel to libraries, purchase of equipment) within the United States.* Applications are accepted until funds have been fully disbursed.

Application Process:

  1. Submit a one page justification stating how the funds will enhance your research and specifically how they will be spent, including research or conference destination, travel dates, and an itemized budget. When planning to use these funds for travel, you must submit at least three weeks prior to your departure because there are documents to process before you depart for the trip. (Be sure to include your name and student ID number.)
  2. Include a brief letter from your graduate advisor or faculty sponsor in support of your research or conference attendance.
  3. State whether you intend to participate in Chico State's Annual Student Research Competition(opens in new window).**
  4. State whether you intend to apply for the Pre-Doctoral Scholars Program in spring 2022 or spring 2023.** Information on the Pre-Doctoral Scholars Program may be found at

*Funding of travel to the following travel ban states is prohibited due to the Assembly Bill 1887: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, and West Virginia.
