Great-Op Research Fellowships and Assistantships

The Graduate Education Access & Opportunity (Great-Op) Program offers research assistantships and fellowships to Chico State graduate students, which provide the opportunity to work with a faculty mentor on research projects that advance both the faculty’s work and the student’s academic skills. The program also provides academic, financial, and career-developing support to ensure students’ retention and successful degree completion.

These opportunities aim to support students traditionally underrepresented in graduate education, such as Latinx, low-income, and underserved groups, who have strong academic records and a desire to enhance their research skills. The purpose of the program is to expand the number of Latinx and low-income students pursuing and attaining graduate degrees. All qualified students are encouraged to apply and will be considered without regard to race, ethnicity, gender, or national origin.

The program is funded through a 5-year U.S. Department of Education's Title V HSI “Promoting Postbaccalaureate Opportunities for Hispanic Americans (PPOHA)” grant, secured and administered by the Office of Graduate Studies and Chico State Enterprises (CSE).
