William Mobley

1. Where are you from?

I am from Antelope California

2. When are you expecting to graduate?

This is my last semester, I will be having my culminating Art exhibition in December. this is the last requirement for my major (BFA printmaking)

3. What’s it like to be a student at Chico State?

Being a student at Chico State is and has been an adventure. The facilities across campus allow students to find their passions and a majority of the faculty is inspiring and truly pushes students to excel in their endeavours. The town of Chico also lends itself to the student body as a whole, and the many events and beautiful parks keep active people like me very busy.

4. How do you like living in Chico?

Living in Chico has taught me what it is like to live in a tight knit community, and I have found it easy to be active in the community through my roles on and off campus. I have been able to work with business owners throughout my time in the Art department and have created a small business for myself where I hire and work with other students to make public works of art, including the Chavez mural in City hall.

5. What’s been your favorite class at Chico State and why?

My favorite class at chico state would have to be the professional practices course that focused on public art and gave me the opportunity to make connections with people and business owners in Chico and Sacramento. I am also partial to the human genetics class taught by Kristin Gourman, it truly shaped the way I live my life.

6. What would be your most important advice for incoming freshman?

My advice for incoming freshman would be to attend any and all events, and this is so you can lend yourself to the many opportunities on and off campus, so that you may learn more about the person you want to be by the time you graduate.

7. What do you plan on doing when you graduate from Chico State?

My plan after graduation is to attend artist residencies so that I can make a professional and competitive art portfolio that I will then use to apply to grad school. This will aid me in becoming a professional studio artist and eventually a college professor of the arts
