History Department

Majors: I'm double majoring in History (Pre-Credential Option) and Latin American Studies with a minor in Global Development Studies.

Hometown: I'm from Hollister, CA.

When are you expecting to graduate?

I plan on graduating May 2022.

Involvement on Campus: I’m President of the Chico State History Club and Phi Alpha Theta which is the National History Honor Society. I love being surrounded by people who are as passionate about history as me and also want to grow as historians. I’m also Director of External Affairs for MEChA de Chico State. MEChA allows me to stay in touch with my roots and embrace my cultural identity while at the same time being a political advocate for marginalized communities. La Union Hace la Fuerza

Can you tell me a little bit more about MEChA

MEChA stands for Movimiento Estudiantil Chicanx de Aztlan and we are  a national student organization whose purpose is to recruit students to higher education, retain our cultural identity, preserve and study our history, maintain ties with the Latinx community, and to become politically active. As Director of External Affairs, I am in charge of communicating and attending meetings with other MEChA chapters in the state and nationwide.

What would be your most important advice for incoming freshman?

My advice for incoming freshmen is to not be shy and join organizations and clubs on campus. It's a great way to meet new people and to form connections.

What do you plan on doing when you graduate from Chico State?

I plan on getting my teaching credential here at Chico State after graduating and afterwards plan on going to graduate school.
