Rodney Thomson Speaks on Local Social Justice Struggles

rodney thomson

Rodney Thomson, a lecturer in the History Department, gave a Black History Month talk in early 2021 entitled “The Struggle for Social Justice in Butte County.”  The lecture primarily focuses on struggles of African Americans in 20th century Butte County, but it also examines the local experiences of Chinese immigrants in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.  The treatment of Chinese immigrants by whites, Thomson argues, parallels that of African Americans in important ways.
