Honors Program Application
The Honors Program is currently receiving applications for students admitted to Chico State, beginning in the Fall 2024 semester, and for students currently enrolled at Chico State.
There is no GPA requirement to apply. Any student committed to excellence is encouraged to apply.
At this time, we are unable to accept applications from students in fully online degree programs.
Before applying, applicants in the following high-unit majors must first receive permission from the Honors Advisor, Tricia Sweet (tsweet@csuchico.edu):
- Computer Information Systems
- Computer Science
- Liberal Studies (a BA degree for students planning to apply to a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential program)
- Mathematics (Option in Mathematics Education)
- Music (Option in Music Education)
- Nursing and Pre-Nursing
These majors require multiple and specific non-Honors courses for Honors GE Areas, and applicants to the Honors Program from these majors commit to re-taking at least one GE Area (thus adding units to graduation):
Note: with careful planning and advising, students in all other majors should be able to complete Honors in General Education without taking any additional General Education courses. However, most students who start at Chico State as a transfer student will likely need to take at least one additional General Education HNRS course to graduate with Honors in General Education.
