Winter Break Closure 2020

The Winter Break campus closure has been extended to include Thursday, December 31, 2020. The Governor has authorized a half day of informal time off for the holiday and President Hutchinson granted administrative leave for the remaining half day allowing the campus to close for the entire day (with the exception of employees required to work – e.g., University Police and other personnel performing essential operations). Employees whose duties prevent them from taking the time off on December 31, 2020, may make arrangements with the appropriate administrator to take informal time off on any working day before June 30, 2021. Special instructions for December closure absence reporting have been added online.

Employees on alternate or compressed work schedules whose non-workday (i.e., regularly scheduled day off) falls on December 31, 2020, shall be granted the equivalent informal time off to be used prior to June 30, 2021. This informal time off shall not be considered as CTO and is not compensable in cash.

Please note that granting of informal time off by the Governor or time off by a president does not create a precedent, and there is no guarantee that this will be done in the future.

As previously notified, campus will be closed as well on December 25-30, 2020 (Friday, Monday - Wednesday) and January 1, 2021 (Friday).

Campus will be open on Thursday, December 24^th; however, employees may make arrangements with their appropriate administrator to use leave (CTO, vacation, or their personal holiday). Approvals will be granted based on operational needs as determined by each Vice President. Employees without sufficient leave may request time off with a dock in pay.
