The Standard - Voluntary Life Insurance and Disability Plans

The Standard currently provides CSU employer-paid life, accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance and long-term disability to benefit-eligible employee groups per their Collective Bargaining Unit.

The Standard also offers voluntary plans to eligible employees as an added way of protecting your income.

  • Voluntary Group Life Insurance
    • New employees may enroll in the plan(s) within 60 calendar days of employment (or re-employment, if there has been a break of service of more than 30 calendar days) for guaranteed issue coverage of up to $150,000 for themselves and $50,000 for their spouse or registered domestic partner, and $20,000 for dependent children.
    • Coverage elected more than 60 days from date of employment will be subject to evidence of insurability.

  • Voluntary Group AD&D Insurance
    • You may enroll at any time, no health questions asked. Spouse/registered domestic partner and dependent children coverage is also available.
    • Provides a benefit in the event of death or dismemberment as a result of a covered accident.

  • Voluntary Group Long-Term Disability
    • New employees may enroll in this plan with guaranteed issue (no health questions asked), within 60 days of employment. Employees with Employer-Paid LTD are ineligible to enroll in a voluntary plan.
    • Coverage elected more than 60 days from date of employment will be subject to evidence of insurability.
    • You can purchase a level of disability insurance that fits your need, with either a 30-day or 90-day waiting period.
