Leave Programs

Coronavirus Temporary Leave Program (CPAL)

Provides a one-time allotment of up to 256 hours of paid administrative leave from March 23, 2020 through December 31, 2020 to eligible employees unable to work on campus or temporarily telework due to specified COVID-19 related reasons. CPAL hours are pro-rated for employees working less than full-time.

Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA)

Provides two weeks (up to 80 hours) of paid sick leave and up to 10 weeks of expanded family and medical leave to eligible employees unable to work on campus or temporarily telework due to specified COVID-19 related reasons. How to Apply for CPAL and FFCRA

Please select the appropriate Leave Request form. Submission of this form will start the request process with the HRSC Benefits office. It’s important that all required information is included on the form. Incomplete forms will be sent back to the requestor.

How to Track CPAL & FFCRA

Absence Management Self Service (AMSS) should be used. Specific instructions(opens in new window) to do these entries into AMSS are available. Specific instructions(opens in new window) for timekeepers and managers/leads to review and approve these entries are also available

Additional Leave Programs

Faculty: Voluntary Reduction in Timebase for Full-time Faculty

Full-time faculty members (tenure-line or 3-year full-time appointment holders) may request a temporary reduction of up to 6 WTU in their timebase for the 2020-2021 academic year. This timebase reduction is accompanied by a proportionate reduction in salary. The request deadline for this program is August 1, 2020. This MOU (PDF) describes the program in greater detail.

Requests for the voluntary timebase reduction should be made by email to the department chair and dean by August 1, who will forward their decision regarding approval or denial to AcademicPersonnel@csuchico.edu.
