Employee Leave Options

Effective January 1, 2021, employees in need of time off for COVID-related reasons may work with their appropriate administrator to use available leave credits (vacation, sick, and/or banked compensatory time off). Additionally, employees may contact the Benefits’ Employee Leaves unit in the Human Resources Services Center ( to discuss available leave options. Faculty with questions pertaining to the Voluntary Reduction of Time Base program should contact the Office of Academic Personnel ( While we do not anticipate any additional paid leave offerings, we will keep the campus community informed and update this page should any come available.

Faculty: Voluntary Reduction in Timebase for Full-time Faculty

Full-time faculty members (tenure-line or 3-year full-time appointment holders) may request a temporary reduction of up to 6 WTU in their timebase for each semester in the 2020-2021 academic year. This timebase reduction is accompanied by a proportionate reduction in salary. The request deadline for this program is August 1, 2020 for the fall semester, and no later than 30 days prior to the beginning of the term for other terms during the 20/21 academic year.
