Compliance Training Tips & Re-certification
As of September 1, CSU Learn emails training reminders for courses that need to be retaken (or re-certified) by October 1. Note that the training status will indicate “Attended”. Please select “Register Again”,Start/Launch the course and click the “Retake” button to recertify. The ITSS Knowledge Base has instructions and examples of courses that require recertification.
As a reminder, two trainings require (by law) a minimum number of minutes the learner must be in training. Discrimination and Harassment Prevention for Non-Supervisors requires a minimum of 60 minutes, and Discrimination and Harassment Prevention for Supervisors requires a minimum of 120 minutes. If you complete the modules in less time, the course will ask you to do additional tasks to fulfill the time requirement.
Employees can verify if they have training pending through 1) the Chico State Portal > My Updates, or 2) in CSU Learn > Assigned Training.
You will receive a confirmation email 5-10 minutes after completing an online course. If you do not receive it, the training will continue as “in progress” (which may occur if you skipped any content or closed the browser window before the system detected the completion). To resolve this, please re-launch the training and/or review any skipped content.
New Employees
New faculty and staff will be assigned compliance training 1-2 weeks prior to their first paycheck. CSU Learn will notify new employees when compliance training has been assigned via their Chico State employee (Exchange) email account.
New Student Employees
1-2 weeks prior to their first paycheck, departments can expect new student employees to be in CSU Learn. CSU Learn will notify new employees when compliance training has been assigned via their Chico State employee (Exchange) email account. Please allow approximately four (5) hours for a new employee to complete compliance training.

What Supervisors Need to Do and Know
Action requested:
- Ensure department employees, including student employees (student assistants, ISA’s, GA’s TA’s, etc.), are up-to-date with their compliance training. Most compliance training was due October 1. Please ask them to complete training before the end of October.
CSU Learn & Reports:
- People listed as the "Reports-To" in PeopleSoft, can use the CSU Learn Manager/Lead Dashboard to see if the employees they supervise are compliant. This report works best for leads/chairs/managers following up on a limited number of direct reports.
- The "Reports-To" maintainer for your area can run a Reports-To Listing Report from Insight to check who you should see on the Dashboard report.
- CSU Learn automatically sends reminders to the employee’s work email account.
- New hires: Compliance trainings are assigned approximately one week prior to the employee’s first paycheck.
- As departments hire students and staff, a training assignment may be triggered with a past due date if they worked on campus in another position. CSU Learn tracks our training completions by Employee ID (rather than position).
Email Template for Supervisors
Supervisors can copy the following information and email it to their employees to help them navigate to their compliance training assignments.

Minimum Time Requirement for DHP Training
Two trainings require (by state law) a minimum number of minutes the learner must be in training. Discrimination and Harassment Prevention (DHP) for Non-Supervisors requires a minimum of 60 minutes, and Discrimination and Harassment Prevention for Supervisors requires a minimum of 120 minutes. If you complete the modules in less time, the course will not complete. You must continue to review material in the course until the time minimum is met and the modules are complete.
Training Assignment vs. Recertification
All new employees are “assigned” training upon employment. Employees are later asked to “recertify” certain assigned (completed) courses as they approach an expiration date.
