Work-Related (JOB) Option
Select this option when taking classes intermittently and not working towards a degree, credential, or certificate. You are not considered a matriculated student and therefore, do not register through Cal State Apply. However, classes are taken for credit and will be posted on the student's official transcript.
You may take courses specifically to improve your job performance or enhancement of skills for career advancement within the CSU system.
Work-related fee waiver employees do not have to meet Graduate Admissions requirements and do not need to submit transcripts or proof of a bachelor's degree.
Depending on operational needs and the CBA, the supervisor may approve one (1) class to be taken on State time.
Steps to Complete Each Term
1. Submit two applications each term of enrollment:- Submit an Employee Fee Waiver Application, select the Work-Related Option, and follow the instructions to route it through Adobe for managers and/or MPP’s signature approvals.
- Submit an Admissions Application for Work-Related Fee Waivers through Adobe. This will admit you as a transitory student by the University.
HR will forward both applications to the appropriate admissions office.
2. Register for classes:- Receive an email (from Undergraduate Admissions or Graduate Studies) confirming you have been accepted as a student under the Work-Related Option. This is your invitation to enroll in courses.
3. Pay fees:
- Pay fees (opens in new window) using the financials tab in your student portal account or at the Student Financial Services Center (SSC), room 230. Tell them you are participating in the employee fee waiver program so they can code the payment properly. Be sure to pay all fees due before financial deadlines(opens in new window).
- Classes may be dropped and/or an overdue payment fee (non-refundable) may be assessed if your fees and forms are not received by the deadlines.
Employees Changing, Adding or Deleting Courses
- Submit a revised Fee Waiver Application for Employees(opens in new window) through Adobe Sign. Check the box under the “Course information and Release time” section, indicating you are submitting a revised application.
