Tackling the Poverty Issue

Chico State was recently invited to participate in a new national initiative on Economic Inequality and Civic Engagement. Led by Professors Laurie Browne and Susan Roll, the Chico State-Butte College Impact Lab on Economic Inequality is one of a cohort of college partnerships working together to study the connections between public policy, economic inequality and opportunity, and social mobility. Here, Browne and Roll share their vision for this timely and regionally relevant initiative.

Fourteen of the University’s best and brightest students were honored at the Lt. Robert Merton Rawlins Merit Awards reception Oct. 14. Founded by the parent of an alumnus who died during World War II, the scholarship program is one of the largest and most prestigious at Chico State. Recipients hail from every corner of campus and serve in the community and beyond to realize some truly inspiring achievements.
