*IMPORTANT: Master's program deadlines vary and some have priority deadlines. Certain graduate programs offer fall admission only. How to Apply

Step 1: Are you academically eligible for admission?

Please review academic qualifications before applying.

Step 2: Submit an Online Application

Apply online at Cal State Apply: www2.calstate.edu/apply/international(opens in new window). When creating your account, please select "F-1 visa" as an international student. A $70 fee is payable online at the time of application.

IMPORTANT: Statement of purpose and recommenders' email addresses are required to complete the application.

Step 3: Submit Supporting Documents

Please be advised that all materials submitted during the application process become University property.

Submission Deadline

Submit all required documents/exam scores within two weeks of the application deadline. Only complete applications will be reviewed.

Send official academic records by international mail/courier:

Official degree certificates and transcripts from all universities attended after high/secondary school
  • Applicants with an Indian bachelor's degree must submit university-attested academic records (not college-attested)
  • Applicants with a Chinese bachelor's degree must also submit a graduation certificate

Upload digital supporting documents:

  • Professional word-for-word English translation of academic records (if university issued in a language other than English)
  • CV/résumé, and/or other documents (if required by program)
  • Copy of passport biographical information page
  • Financial support documents

Transmit digital exam scores:

Proof of English language proficiency 
  • TOEFL: select university code 4048 to electronically send official scores to Chico State.
  • IELTS: contact IELTS or upload a digital copy of the Test Report Form. 
GRE (if required by program): select university code 4048 to electronically send official scores to Chico State.

Admission Decision

An Admissions Evaluator will communicate with you throughout the admissions process and inform you via e-mail when a decision has been made by the department to which you applied.
