Conditional Graduate Applicant
Students who do not meet the English language proficiency requirement for admission may be able to apply for conditional admission. Students who choose the conditional admission option begin by studying English at one of CSU, Chico's partner language schools.
When the appropriate language proficiency is reached, students may then begin their academic program at the University. Some programs may require additional test scores prior to making an admission decision. Refer to the Graduate Programs and Coordinators page.
The following graduate programs will consider students for conditional admission:
- Art (Art History, Fine Arts)
- Business Administration (MBA)
- Communication Studies
- Education
- Electrical and Computer Engineering
- Environmental Science
- Geosciences
- Kinesiology
- Political Science
- Psychology
- Teaching International Languages
The following programs will NOT consider students for conditional admission:
- Biological Science
- Communication Sciences and Disorders
- Computer Science
- English
- Nutritional Science
- Public Administration
- Recreation Administration
- Social Science
- Social Work
Applying for Conditional Admission is easy!
Step 1: Complete the CSU, Chico master's degree application(opens in new window) for the program of your choice
Step 2: Complete the application for the language school of your choice
- CSU, Chico's partner language schools(opens in new window) for graduate programs are listed on the English Proficiency website.
Step 3: Inform CSU, Chico international admissions that you are choosing the conditional admission option
Step 4: Admission Decision
For students admitted conditionally, CSU, Chico will issue a letter of conditional admission and the English language institution which you will attend will issue your immigration document (SEVIS I-20 form).
