James Luyirika-Sewagudde, Jr. is Retiring

After almost 47 years of service to the students at CSU, Chico, the nation, and the world, James Luyirika-Sewagudde, Jr. is retiringJames Smiling

Although we know James from his advocacy for international students and study abroad since 1973, he has also worked for Upward Bound, Academic Advising and has coordinated our National Student Exchange program since 1977. Over the years, James has served thousands of students across the nation and the world, and taught us all about respectful intercultural communication.

In addition to his work at Chico State, he has presented numerous papers at NAFSA: Association of International Educators, published articles on international student advising, trained countless government workers on student visa processes, edited the African Studies Journal, and traveled to South Africa in the summer of 2004 as a Fulbright scholar.

James will continue to be a positive force in our community and throughout the world. Please join us in thanking him and wishing him the best.
