  • International Student Ambassador Fellowship Program (ISAF)

    The ISAF Program seeks to hire the most energetic, adventurous, and talented international students at CSU, Chico!  Are you awesome (or want to be)?  Join our team!

    The International Student Ambassador Fellowship (ISAF) Program provides F-1 students with hands-on experience as student leaders at CSU, Chico. Fellows are compensated US$14.25/hour for a maximum of 15 hours per week during the academic year.

    Program Goals

      • Create leadership opportunities for international students
      • Provide professional leadership development training to program participants
      • International Student Ambassadors will:
        • Share their Chico State experiences with prospective and new international students;
        • Welcome and help new international students transition to campus life and living in Chico;
        • Serve as a peer-mentor to new and continuing international students;
        • Build a strong international community by engaging International Wildcats in fun social and cultural events;
        • Encourage students to get involved in campus and community events and volunteer service opportunities;
        • Promote the valuable talents and contributions that International Wildcats bring to our campus with the wider campus community; and
        • Make sure international student voices and concerns are heard on campus committees, in academic departments, and in the office of International Education and Global Engagement

    How Can I Be an International Student Ambassador?

      • Our goal is to hire students from diverse academic levels, majors, and backgrounds.  
      • You are eligible to apply if you meet the following requirements:
        • 2.5 GPA or higher
        • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English 
        • Will reside in Chico during the 2021-22 academic year
        • Continuing CSUC students: Must have volunteered in the past year as a Global Ally or completed INED 312 with a B or higher
        • New CSUC students: Must have t least one year of prior experience studying at a U.S. college/university and must enroll in INED 312 in fall 2021 (fee waiver for this course is included in the ISAF compensation package).

  • Global Allies Volunteer Team

    All continuing students are welcome to volunteer for international events and activities as a Global Ally. This is an opportunity to contribute to the international academic community, network with other students, and also build your resume.

  • Global Student Society

    The Global Student Society is a recognized student association at CSU, Chico for international Wildcats, study abroad alumni, and all students with an interest in global engagement and cross-cultural exchange.  The society's purpose is to celebrate internationalization at Chico State, build an international community on campus, and support international and study abroad students through workshops and hosting special events and guests.

  • International Wildcat Program

    The International Wildcat Program (IWP) pairs international students with U.S. students and families for friendship and support. The program also offers activities and events that connect you to the Chico community.

    Top reasons to join the IWP:
    • Make new friends at Chico State – both American and international Meet an American student (or family) who shares the same interests as you and can connect you with other similar students and clubs at Chico State
    • Get the help you need when you need it most – and from another student who really gets it
    • Get real insider information about Chico State and the U.S. from an American student who (like you) has studied in a foreign country
    • Attend fun cultural events
    • Practice your English in an informal and supportive environment
    • Looks great on a resume!
    The only two requirements for this program are:
    • Be friendly, kind, courteous, and open-minded
    • Meet with your American mentor (virtually) three times during the semester – according to your schedules

    Global Café – English Conversation Hour - Spring 2022

    What is Global Cafe English Conversation Hour?   

    International Wildcats and native speakers meet once per week with one shared goal – to meet new friends and enjoy some good conversation, while having fun.
