Cherie Britt-Wengel
Cherie earned a B.A. in journalism from Chico State in 1996. While a student, she was PR chairperson for the 1996 Olympic Torch Relay — generating the largest crowd in California. For the past six years Cherie has held various PR positions at Hewlett-Packard, managing global PR programs to generate brand preference. Cherie began her career at Kimpton Hotels, Ketchum, and Alexander Ogilvy.
Marideth Post
Marideth received a B.A. in journalism in 1991 after serving as Tehama Group Communication’s general manger. As an alumna she’s been an advisory board member, guest speaker, media-pitching trainer, career counselor and on-site internship adviser. Now, Marideth is the minister of enlightenment for The Republic of Tea, where she informs and inspires journalists about tea. She came to The Republic of Tea from W Hotels Worldwide, New York. Before that, she was the director of media relations for Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, San Francisco.
Cynthia Rude
Cynthia received her B.A. in journalism and graduated with distinction in 1990. At Chico State she was an intern with Ketchum PR and received an IABC Merit Award. Since graduation she’s been an advisory board member, Tehama Group client, intern supervisor and career counselor to numerous graduates. Today, she is a managing partner and chief operating officer of PainePR, where she leads multiple consumer and B2B client teams and runs agency operations. Prior to PainePR, Cynthia was employed by Hill and Knowlton.
Bob Vivian
Bob held a Syracuse University master’s degree in mass communication. He joined the Chico State faculty in fall 1983 after working in newspapers, magazines, radio and public relations. Bob taught courses in public relations, news-ed and pop culture as a professional-in-residence. He was named 1990 Outstanding Student Organization Adviser, 1993 Outstanding Academic Adviser, and students voted him one of 10 people that Chico State students were most likely to tell their problems to. Bob retired from the department in 1999; he died Dec. 16, 2007.
Stephanie Yoder
Stephanie earned a B.A. in communications from Chico State in 1990. She completed five internships, two with local legislators. Today, she is press secretary and senior consultant for Assemblymember Joe Canciamilla. For 15 years, she has worked as a policy consultant for health, education and budget issues. She launched media campaigns to assist Californians with prescription medications, mental health services and women’s health. She and husband, Paul, have two children, Jackson and Thomas.
