Dr. Patton joined the CSU, Chico Kinesiology faculty in 2008. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in physical education methods, assessment, trends and issues, and reading/understanding research. Stemming from his commitment and concern for quality physical education and youth physical activity, his scholarly interests include initial teacher education, accessing teacher and student voice, teacher educators' professional learning, and teachers' continuing professional development. In 2013, he served as a Fulbright Specialist Scholar at the University of Limerick in Ireland developing a research agenda on teacher professional learning and the role of teacher educators and communities of practice.

Personal Interests

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Andrea and three sons (Nathan, Dillon, and Brian), traveling the world, and playing golf with friends.
