The Latinx Graduation Celebration, commonly referred to as "Latinx Grad," was created to honor the achievements of Chico State Latinx graduates and the contributions their families and friends have made during their education. MEChA, a student organization, initiated this event in 1978 to encourage Latinos to pursue higher education. This diverse and intimate English/Spanish bilingual ceremony has flourished and now includes Latinx and non-Latinx students. This celebration is open to all students who meet the graduation eligibility criteria, regardless of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin. Due to limited seating, tickets are required
The 48th Annual Latinx Graduation Celebration is scheduled for Saturday, May 17, 2025, in Laxson Auditorium at 12:30 pm and 3:00 pm. Two events are planned to accommodate the growing interest.
12:30 pm Ceremony: College of Agriculture and College of Behavioral and Social Sciences
3:00 pm Ceremony: College of Business; College of Communication and Education; College of Engineering, Computer Science and Construction Management; College of Humanities and Fine Arts; and College of Natural Sciences.
All participants in the 2025 Latinx Graduation Celebration must meet the following criteria at the time of their application to participate.
Participants may participate in the Latinx Graduation Celebration only once for the same degree. Students completing only a credential degree or professional certificate are ineligible.
