Summer Calculus Boot Camp

The 2025 Summer Calculus Boot Camp (SCBC) is a 3-week in-person program for Chico State students. The dates for the 2025 SCBC are June 8 through June 27. Students attend class from 9 AM - 4 PM, Monday through Friday. First year, transfer, and continuing students are encouraged to apply. There is no cost to participate in this program and students will receive a stipend upon successful completion of the camp.

The SCBC is designed to improve problem-solving abilities in a collaborative learning environment conducive to success in science, mathematics, and engineering. The topics covered during the boot camp include fractions, functions and their graphs, rational expressions, exponents and radicals, linear equations and inequalities, absolute value, polynomials, logarithms, exponentials, and trigonometry.  

The program provides students with a taste of university life while creating supportive relationships with other LSAMP students and staff. The SCBC provides an introduction to campus life, student services, and the surrounding community.

    • Participants will have the opportunity to strengthen their foundational knowledge mathematics to be prepared for the ALEKS PPL Math/QR Placement Assessment
  • Eligibility

    To be eligible for CSU-LSAMP, a student must be:

    • A U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
    • An undergraduate with a declared major in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics, pursuing a baccalaureate degree (pre-nursing students are not eligible)
    • An individual who has faced or faces social, educational, or economic barriers to careers in STEM
  • Requirements
    • You must have completed trigonometry with a passing grade
    • You must be ready to take a pre-calculus or calculus course in the fall
    • You must have earned a high school GPA of 2.0 or higher
    • Students are expected to attend the entire program, participate in all activities, and complete all assignments
