Summer Calculus Boot Camp

This summer program has been going strong for several years now and continues to demonstrate the strong influence that it has on the students that take part in it. Throughout the course of this program you will learn invaluable skills that will not only prepare you for college expectations but put you ahead of your class peers by helping you develop great study habits and sharpening your problem solving skills at an early stage of your college career.   

This four-week boot camp (8AM to 3PM, Monday through Friday) will focus on problem solving, explorations, and applications of precalculus mathematics incorporating calculator skills. Topics include fractions, functions and their graphs, rational expressions, exponents and radicals, linear equations and inequalities, absolute value, polynomials, logarithms, exponentials, and trigonometry. Students will collaboratively master these topics in an environment of rigorous mathematical immersion.

The program will begin July 7th and end on August 2nd. Applicants will be notified at the end of May. 

  • Stipend of up to $600
  • Free graphing calculator and supplies
  • Non-local participants may be eligible for no cost housing and meals.
  • Weekday lunches are provided for all participants
  • Development of strong relationships with peers and teachers that will last throughout your college career. 

To be eligible for CSU-LSAMP, a student must be:

  • A U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • An undergraduate with a declared major in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics, pursuing a baccalaureate degree.
  • An individual who has faced or faces social, educational, or economic barriers to careers in STEM.

Please pay careful attention to the requirements

  • You MUST have completed trigonometry with a passing grade.
  • You must be ready to take a pre-calculus or calculus course.
  • You must have earned High School GPA of 2.5 or higher.
