Meghan's Story

At Chico State, Megan is actively involved in campus organizations. She has served as the Secretary for the Digital Filmmakers Guild since August, where she helps inspire and support fellow students in writing, directing, and producing their own films. Her role includes creating opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience on professional sets, which is crucial for building their resumes. “I want to inspire students within the club to write and direct their own films and also give them opportunities to work on professionally run sets and build their reels!” Additionally, Megan is an active member of Alpha Phi in Greek life, contributing to the community in various ways.

This past summer, Megan interned with 101 Studios in Beverly Hills, a production company known for shows like Yellowstone and Mayor of Kingstown. Working with their development intern team, she gained valuable insights from industry executives and learned about the inner workings of a major production company. Professor Joshua Moss praised Meghan as "one of our most talented students in Media Arts," highlighting her exceptional abilities as an actress, writer, and director. He noted that her short film, "Consequences," which she both wrote and directed while also starring in, received the Best Actress award at the recent SMASH film festival. Moss described the film as "an impressive and impactful piece that addresses a significant issue." He commended her ability to blend creative storytelling with professionalism in her collaborations with peers, expressing pride in having her in the program.

Meghan's Plan

Meghan is set to continue her dynamic journey with DFG while taking on the role of Student Filmmaker and Special Guests Coordinator for the Butte Film Festival as she wraps up her degree. Word's of Advice

"Many people like to say that careers in the film industry are impossible to get and that it is almost impossible to break into the industry. This is NOT TRUE. Make your own films, build your community of talented peers and one day, those will be the people that get you in the door or recommend you for your big break!"
