Teachers: 2018 REUT Application (PDF) | REUT Program Flyer (PDF)

The application form, unofficial transcripts, and one or two letters of recommendation must be received by the application deadline of March 12, 2018 in order to receive full consideration. However, we will continue to accept applications until all participant slots have been filled. All materials should be sent via email to Candidates must be US citizens or permanent residents who are intending to continue undergraduate studies in the fall. Women and students from minorities underrepresented in mathematics are particularly encouraged to apply.

Program Overview

Our REUT program will allow 10 undergraduates and 2 teachers will work on mathematical research with a faculty mentor during a 7-week residential summer program at California State University, Chico.

Program Dates: June 4 - July 20, 2018

Research Areas

During the summer of 2018 Dr. Sergei Fomin will supervise teams in Mathematical Modeling. Projects will involve modeling such real world problems as tsunami wave dynamics and heat transfer processes using differential equations.

Financial Support

Participants will receive funding for travel and housing, plus a $3500 stipend.

Chico, California is located in the northeast corner of the Sacramento Valley near the foothills of the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountain range. The university campus is located in Chico’s walkable downtown with easy access to restaurants and coffee shops.
