Affiliate Program for Faculty Members of the Department of Ethnic, Gender, and Queer Studies (EGQS)

The Department of Ethnic, Gender, and Queer Studies (EGQS) recognizes the invaluable contributions of faculty members across campus to the department’s mission. Their commitment to transformative justice and social change aligns seamlessly with the work undertaken within our unit. To foster a sense of shared purpose and collaboration, the EGQS affiliate program has been established.

Benefits to Faculty Members

  • Potential access to professional development funds to support research, teaching, and other development activities.
  • Mentorship and support from faculty within ECQS.
  • Affiliate designation (noted on the website) and a letter from the chair highlighting affiliate status to be used as affiliate faculty member sees fit.
  • Work (teaching, research, and mentorship) highlighted in the departmental newsletter.

Expectations for Affiliate Faculty Members

  • Attend at least one designated faculty meeting or gathering per semester.
  • Teach at least one cross-listed course within last three years.

Interested faculty members who wish to become affiliates (renewable every three years) are requested to complete the application.

Interested faculty members should complete online application (google form) expressing their interest in becoming an Affiliate Faculty member in ECQS. The google form will include the following questions:

  • Reasons for wanting to become an Affiliate Faculty member in MCGS
  • How the candidate’s research, teaching, and community work aligns with the department’s mission.
  • How the candidate will fulfill the expectations for affiliates.
  • The candidate’s curriculum vitae (CV).
