Office Internship

The Multicultural and Gender Studies office is hiring for Intern positions starting the Fall of 2020. These Interns work closely with the Director and the Office Staff with Outreach and Public Relations, Graphic Design, Research and Program Development, and Event Coordination. Each Intern completes hours that satisfy their major or minor's required hours and complete work that broadens their understanding of Chico State's diverse population. Through networking with organizations on and off campus, the interns gain perspective on Departmental work and create a network of communication spanning the campus and the city itself.

We take careful consideration of required hours and work around student's schedules to ensure maximization of learning. We want our Interns to leave the internship with a wide array of connections, skills, and opportunities. Internship Responsibilities Include:
Requirements:
-120-150 hours per semester
-Enroll in MCGS 389 – Internship in MCGS
 
Description:
The successful applicants will be responsible for creating graphics and/or conducting public relations, outreach and marketing on behalf of the Multicultural and Gender Studies (MCGS) department using the MCGS brand archetype. Tasks include, but are not limited to: posting to social media sites, outreach within Chico State campus, and conducting outreach with specified community groups, such as Peace & Justice Center, Mobilize, Mechoopda Indian Tribe of Chico Rancheria, etc. Successful applicants will also implement various marketing initiatives and other tasks as assigned. Interns are required to attend weekly MCGS staff meetings.
Media Tasks:
Social media sites include:
-Facebook
-Instagram
-Twitter
 
Press Releases:
-Coordinating with the Chair of the department, successful applicants will be responsible for creating and sending press releases to campus, local and regional media outlets. The Chair of the department will determine what events will require press releases.
 
Outreach Tasks:
-Raise visibility of MCGS programs and events
-Engage with our stakeholders through social media and other methods
-Promote MCGS events and initiatives to student groups, units, organizations, departments on the Chico State campus, and specified community groups
-Develop relationships with leaders across campus and with specified community groups
-Attend meetings and perform presentations about MCGS to campus organizations and Chico community members
 
Marketing Strategies:
-Implementation and updating of MCGS marketing strategy
-Coordinate with MCGS graphics staff
-Coordinate with MCGS office staff including Chair of the department
