Richard Duncan Advocacy Award

I am a joyful individual with a creative and curious outlook on life and an advocate for survivors of sexual exploitation and human trafficking. Being a feminist poet, I have written one poetry book exploring the effects of sexism from an intersectional lens and continue to write poetry. I want to end the stigmas people face in society and create a safe space for everyone.

As a survivor of trafficking, I have dealt with mental health struggles and I work on my recovery every day, but this all goes on behind the scenes. I am grateful to receive this award because it shows me the hard work and dedication I have poured into my advocacy for others is beginning to pay off. I want to create a world where people do not have to face the struggles I once have, and this will help me in my endeavors to do so.
