Costume Rentals

Who we rent to

If you are interested in renting costumes from us, you must be a school, theatre, community organization, or another department in the CSU.

We do not rent to individuals or the general public.

Also note: We are a limited service during the academic school year and on a first come, first serve basis, as long as there is available time and student staff.

During the summer we are a full service costume rental program from the end of May until mid August. These dates may be subject to change, so please contact us with plenty of time for your production.

How it works

Please email the costume shop manager, Elizabeth Davis, with the following information: show title, run dates, cast list, measurements, style/period, and any visuals or specific information about the type of costumes you are looking for. If you have a low budget let us know, and we will do our best to work with you.

Once we have agreed upon the rental fee, our student will pull the costumes and accessories. He/she will then contact you for an appointment to view and pickup the costumes.

You will then take the costumes to do your own fittings, and return or exchange any additional items. (We can ship costumes on request for an additional charge.)

Terms and Conditions

The renter will pay the agreed upon deposit/price of the rental when the costumes are picked up, and assumes the responsibility and costs of cleaning, repairs and returning all items listed to the CSU, Chico’s School of the Arts Costume Studio.

In addition the renter shall provide adequate security, insurance coverage, and maintenance of the rented items. In the event of loss or damage, the renter agrees to pay repair or replacement charges up to the total value of the item listed.

The renter agrees that no changes or alterations will be made without the express written consent from the rental supervisor.

The renter agrees to return the costumes on or before the agreed upon date. If after the return date, a late charge will be added.
