Popular artist Jake Early will debut a new print tomorrow, Oct. 8, to help kick off Chico Experience Week festivities.

More than 80 events taking place around Chico and California State University, Chico Oct. 8-17 are part of Chico Experience Week, which will showcase the area for community members as well as many alumni returning to their alma mater. Chico Experience Week is sponsored by the Chico State Alumni Association, with many campus and community partners.

Early, a 1994 CSU, Chico alumnus, has agreed to design a series of five prints over the next five years to celebrate the Chico Experience. In collaboration with Chico Paper Co., he will donate a portion of the prints’ sales to the Chico State Alumni Association.

The first print will be unveiled tomorrow, 5-7 p.m., at a reception at Chico Paper Co. The event is free and the public is invited to attend. Refreshments will be available.
Early will be in attendance at the event to answer questions and meet fellow alumni and fans. Chico Paper Co. is owned by CSU, Chico alumni Greg Strong and Jana Donoho-Strong.

Early’s design work and printmaking have earned him a large following. A California native, Early produces serigraphs on the printing press he designed and built in his Chico studio.

Early’s work includes the popular Chico Landmark series, Chico Street series, Bidwell Park Centennial series, Chico Seasons, Bidwell Presbyterian, and the Chico Sideways series.

In addition to his degree from CSU, Chico, Early also studied at the School of Fine Arts in Seville, Spain.
