Associated Students Sustainability at California State University, Chico is collaborating with the Environmental Action Resource Center and the Environmental Affairs Council to bring the Chico community the fifth annual Tofurky Feast next Wednesday, Nov. 17. The feast will be held from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Selvester’s Café by the Creek. It is free and all are welcome.

The Tofurky Feast provides an opportunity for guests to experience great food and learn more about how they can “green” their holidays. Community organizations and businesses donated food, and volunteers from the AS Sustainability Collaborative will prepare the meal.

The vegetarian, Thanksgiving-style meal will consist of traditional fixings such as mashed potatoes, gravy and cranberries and an earth-friendly, vegetarian meat alternative, Tofurky. Tofurky is soy-based, made with a blend of wheat protein and tofu. A special treat will be chai from Chico Chai.

Guests are encouraged to bring their own plates, utensils and cups. Some plates and cups will be provided, but if you bring your own, you’ll receive a free raffle ticket. Additional raffle tickets can be purchased at the event. All proceeds from the raffle and any donations will be used to develop the E-ARC library.

“Tofurky Feast is a great way to bring the community together and celebrate the holidays,” said Debra Beress, public relations intern for AS Sustainability. “You can learn more about the sustainable efforts that anyone can make at home.”
