California State University, Chico will host its 16th annual open house for prospective students on Saturday, Oct. 23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., beginning in the Bell Memorial Union. The fall open house gives prospective students and their families an opportunity to visit the campus and talk directly with faculty and service program personnel.

President Paul J. Zingg will welcome visitors at 9:30 a.m. in the new Student Services Plaza.

All academic programs and service offices will have representatives at the information fair, which will begin at 10 a.m. and remain open until 3 p.m. Academic departments will have faculty available to talk to students about majors and programs. Representatives from student support services, including the Educational Opportunity Program, Student Health Service, Athletics, Student Activities, Advising and Career Planning, will be on hand.

Families interested in information about housing will be able to tour a residence hall. Financial aid experts will be available to provide information about financing education and available scholarships.

“Given the competitive nature of admissions these days,” said Wendy Needels, assistant director of admissions and event coordinator, “it is very important for students to visit schools and decide what school best fits them. Students who attend this event get a unique chance to visit with representatives from every academic department on campus. It is an opportunity to get an in-depth look at majors, talk with faculty and see what makes Chico State such a popular campus.”
