The director of “Unsettled,” a documentary about the 2005 withdrawal from the Gaza Strip in Israel, will be showing his film and leading a discussion about it Wednesday, April 13, at 6 p.m. in Langdon 302 on the California State University, Chico campus.

Adam Hootnick is a writer and director who formerly covered politics and international affairs at MTV News. “Unsettled,” which premiered in 2008, was his first film.

“Unsettled” tells the story of six young Israelis during the Gaza withdrawal in the summer of 2005. In order to accomplish Israel’s unilateral disengagement from the Gaza Strip, the Israel Defense Forces had to uproot approximately 9,000 Israelis, some of them forcibly, from homes in Jewish communities in Gaza where they had lived for almost 40 years.

The film screening and discussion is free, and the public is invited to attend. There will be refreshments at the event.

The event is sponsored by Chico State Hillel and Camera, the Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting in America.
