Speakers Address Nursing Topics

The Honor Society of Nursing chapter at California State University, Chico is hosting speakers on important topics in nursing in February and March.

On Feb. 16, the Kappa Omicron chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society will present “Healthcare Law, Legal Malpractice and What Nurses Can Do To Reduce Their Risk of Being Sued for Negligence.”

The talk, by attorney Marc Lyde, is at Panighetti’s restaurant at 2760 The Esplanade. Dinner is at 6 p.m., with the talk at 7 p.m. Lyde is the owner of Leonard & Lyde law practice in Chico. He completed his legal education at the University of San Diego School of Law.

On March 12, Casey Shillam, registered nurse, and Mary Dickow, representing the California Action Coalition, will present “Recommendation Highlights of the Institute of Medicine’s Future of Nursing.”
