More than 3,600 admitted fall 2012 students and their family members are expected to visit California State University, Chico for Choose Chico! on Saturday, April 14.

Hosted by CSU, Chico’s Office of Admissions, the open house event from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. gives students who have been admitted for the fall 2012 semester as well as their families an opportunity to experience the campus firsthand and talk directly with faculty, staff and current students.

The day starts with registration at the BMU Auditorium and other sites and a welcome from CSU, Chico President Paul Zingg at 8:15 a.m. and 9 a.m. in Laxson Auditorium. Other activities include campus tours, a Student Involvement Fair, Financial Aid and University Housing presentations and meetings with representatives from various colleges and departments.

Other information about the event, which was previously called Admitted Student Preview Day, can be found at http://www.csuchico.edu/admissions/choose_chico.shtml.

Also taking place on campus April 14 is Chico State Expo 125, a community open house from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. to celebrate the University’s 125th anniversary. Both area residents and admitted students and their families will have an opportunity to enjoy the more than 60 activities and presentations taking place during the Expo. More Expo information can be found at http://www.csuchico.edu/125/events/expo125.shtml.

“We hope Choose Chico! will help students make their final decision about what college to attend,” said Wendy Needels, assistant director, Office of Admissions. “Because of state budget cuts to higher education, college admission across the state has become much more selective and competitive. We want to help students make the right decision and show them why Chico State might be the best choice for them. And we hope that they choose Chico!”
