Two Named to University Advancement Positions

California State University, Chico’s Division of University Advancement has filled two key administrative positions this month.

Leslie Schibsted, former advancement director for the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences, has been named interim associate vice president for development. Schibsted replaces Bob Alber, who retired last month. She began her new post Jan. 2.

Dwight Seuser, former senior director of constituent relationship management at Aurora University in Illinois, has been named director of advancement services and annual giving. The director of advancement services position had been vacant since 2011. Seuser began his new post Jan. 2.

“These are two very important positions for our campus,” said Rick Ellison, vice president for University Advancement. “Dwight brings outstanding experience at several campuses leading annual fund efforts, managing advancement programs and creating strong operational management practices. Leslie’s extensive fundraising and campaign consulting experience and her leadership on campus will be an immediate boost to University Advancement.”

University Advancement’s mission is to encourage and promote the involvement and support of others, and to advance the University in creating high-quality educational experiences for CSU, Chico students.

Prior to her position at the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences, Schibsted was director of advancement for the College of Natural Sciences for five years. From 1996 to 2006, she held positions of senior consultant and vice president for The Focus Group, which raises capital for nonprofit groups.

Schibsted earned a master’s in education from CSU, Chico in 2010. Her bachelor’s degree is in business administration and marketing from UC Berkeley.

"I am very excited to serve Chico State in a new role during this transformational time in higher education,” said Schibsted. “I look forward to working with colleagues across campus to attract and secure increased external support from alumni, community members and friends to ensure the University's reputation as one of the top residential, comprehensive universities in the state."

Seuser also served as senior director of advancement operations at Aurora University. Prior to that position, he was director of advancement operations at Lawrence University in Wisconsin from 2001 to 2009.

Seuser began his career in advancement at Centenary College of Louisiana, where he was director of annual giving from 1994 to 2000 and director of administrative computing from 2000 to 2001. He earned his bachelor’s in music with a minor in business administration from Wichita State University.

It is my pleasure to be part of the advancement team that will help facilitate and support student success at CSU, Chico.”
