Build.com, Butte County and the California Highway Patrol are among the employers slated to attend the first-ever Local Job Fair on Wednesday, Oct. 22, at California State University, Chico. The event is hosted by the Chico State Career Center in conjunction with Butte College.

The fair will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Bell Memorial Union Auditorium at CSU, Chico.

Career Center Director Megan Odom says the inaugural event aims to connect qualified students with local employers.

“This fair is designed to support current students looking for part-time work and internships, and help graduating seniors who want to stay in the area secure great local jobs,” Odom said. “It’s a win-win for us and the community.”

Odom said the fair has received support from the Chico Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Chico Business Association. The partnership with Butte College’s career center is another first.

“After years of talking about it, we finally decided to join forces,” Odom said. “We see a lot of the same students eventually.”

The deadline for employers to register is Friday, Oct. 17. A list of participating organizations is available here.
