University Named to Green Lists

California State University, Chico has once again received recognition for its leadership in sustainability.

Online Schools Center, a web-based source for news and information on online education, ranked CSU, Chico no. 23 on its Top 50 Green Schools list.

Additionally, the University was among 20 colleges and universities to be named to Excite Education’s list of schools receiving its Green Initiative Award. The company provides information regarding online degrees and certificates.

Each list cited the University’s bicycle-friendly campus and residential life and its placement on Sierra Club’s 2014 Cool Schools and Second Nature’s 2014 Climate Leadership Awards lists.

Student-driven activities, including the This Way to Sustainability conference and the Associated Students sustainability and recycling programs, were also noted in the rankings.

CSU, Chico is joined by Stanford (7), Columbia (12) and Harvard (16) universities on the Top 50 Green Schools list and by Cornell, San Francisco State University and Butte College on the Green Initiative Award list.
