Special community events, alumni reunions and a love for all things Chico are in store during the fifth annual Chico Experience Week, Oct. 10-19.

Nearly 100 events will take place around Chico and California State University, Chico, from the unveiling of the fifth and final Chico Experience print by noted artist alum Jake Early on Friday, Oct. 10, to a performance by The Hot Sardines at Laxson Auditorium on Friday, Oct. 19.

For all events and ticket information, go to www.csuchico.edu/chicoexperience or call the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations at 530-898-6472.

New this year is a networking mixer for newer alumni, slated for Friday, Oct. 10, at B Street Oyster Co. Other alumni events include this year’s Golden Grad reunion, for CSU, Chico alumni who graduated in 1964 or earlier, and a Janet Turner student reunion, celebrating what would have been the late artist’s 100th birthday.

More than 1,000 are expected at the Family Weekend Barbeque, held on Yolo Lawn on campus on Saturday, Oct. 11, from noon to 2 p.m. Tickets to the popular event are $12 each and may be ordered online or by calling the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations at 898-6472. Parking that day is free in campus lots.

The Chico Experience Week coincides with Greek Week, when CSU, Chico students in fraternities and sororities unite for service activities. Student-planned efforts include food and blood drives and a walk to raise funds for breast cancer research. More information on Greek Week activities can be found here.

“There is so much to love about Chico, and The Chico Experience Week provides myriad opportunities to celebrate the campus and community that so many of us cherish,” said Sue Anderson, assistant vice president for Alumni and Parent Relations. “There is truly something for everyone.”

Local partners include the Downtown Chico Business Association, the Chico Chamber of Commerce, Chico Artoberfest, Chico Paper Co. and the Sierra Oro Farm Trail. Featured sponsors are Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., Liberty Mutual, Marsh Insurance, The Courtyard Inn Marriott, Residence Inn Marriott and Wells Fargo.

Events guides are available at the Chamber of Commerce and at The Chico Experience Week Visitor Center in the University’s Sapp Hall at 238 Normal Ave in Chico.
