California State University, Chico’s team of health services administration students won the 2015 California Statewide College Bowl, a jeopardy-style trivia competition that tests students’ knowledge in the 10 subject areas for the board certification exam for health services administrators.

The CSU, Chico students defeated a team from CSU, Long Beach in the competition, which was held in Los Angeles April 17.

CSU, Chico students Alix Chase, Shelby Davis, Jacquelyn Evans, Mohit Gulati, Kasey Krist-Johnson, Cody Levar and Zachary McDonough competed for CSU, Chico. Their team advisors were Stan Salinas and Richard Narad, professors in the Department of Health and Community Services, who were assisted by students Lauren Brown and Leana Haddad.

Narad said that CSU, Chico’s students’ success in the competition “showed the depth and breadth of CSU, Chico’s Health Services Administration program,” and students’ dedication in meeting weekly to prepare for the competition.

The Statewide College Bowl is sponsored by the California Association of Healthcare Leaders, the Health Care Executives of Southern California and the San Diego Organization of Healthcare Leaders, the three chapters of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE).
