The Associated Students Gender and Sexuality Equity Center (GSEC) is hosting its bi-annual Internship Fair to promote its three-unit internship opportunity for the upcoming spring semester. The Internship Fair gives CSU, Chico students a chance to meet the GSEC staff in person and learn more about what the internship entails. Applications are available for the Women's Program, LGBTQ+ Program, Outreach Program and the new Trans Program. Students are urged to join them on Thursday, Jan. 28, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in BMU 004 and find out what working at an activist organization is like.

The Internship Fair provides the opportunity to network with fellow student leaders and activists on CSU, Chico’s campus. The GSEC is specifically looking for students who are passionate about promoting social equity and motivated to work toward inclusion of all marginalized identities on our campus and in our community. The GSEC staff will explain the application process, requirements for the internship and the seminar course (MCGS 489) that all interns must take. This is a great opportunity for applicants to ask questions and see which program or coordinator they would like to intern with. Food and music will be provided.

The intern positions advertised in the women’s, LGBTQ+, and trans programs will aid in planning and organizing events that positively impact the feminist and LGBTQ+ social justice movements. Outreach interns will promote those events by writing press releases and monitoring GSEC’s social media sites. Anyone with a passion to join in on these efforts in educating our community on the importance of social justice issues is encouraged to apply.

All intern application information and materials will be available at the Internship Fair as well as during their regular office hours (Monday–Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.), by email request at asgsec.outreach@csuchico.edu and online at www.aschico.com/gsec/gsecinternships. Applications for the spring internship will be due on Monday, Feb. 1 by 4 p.m. to BMU 004.

The Associated Students Gender and Sexuality Equity Center is a student-run activist organization that strives to empower all students through its four programs: the Women’s Program, LGBTQ+ Program, Outreach Program and Trans Program. The GSEC challenges societal norms that have been used to oppress and marginalize by providing opportunities for leadership, personal development and referral services. We offer a safe and inclusive space where the campus and community can effectively support the academic mission of the university.
