California State University, Chico has won several awards this year from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) for publications, marketing and alumni relations programs.

CASE is a professional association serving educational institutions and the advancement professionals who work on their behalf in alumni relations, communications, development, marketing and allied areas. Membership includes more than 3,670 colleges, universities, schools and non-profit organizations in 82 countries.

CSU, Chico was notified June 8 that it had received a CASE 2016 Circle of Excellence silver award for its 2014-15 Annual Report entitled “Inspiring Impact.”

CASE received 51 entries in the Circle of Excellence annual report category from member schools throughout the U.S. and abroad. Submitted material is judged by advancement professionals at other educational institutions.

Contest judges praised the CSU, Chico Annual Report’s photography, infographics and story-telling, adding, “They did a fine job of connecting the donor with the ‘why’ of why they give by putting the stories of students at the forefront. They too, were also mindful of unit cost, and kept costs low while producing a high quality piece.”

Earlier in the spring, the University received three Awards of Excellence from CASE District VII, which represents school members from Arizona, California, Guam, Hawaii, Nevada, Northern Mariana Islands and Utah. District VII judges also recognized CSU, Chico’s 2013-14 Annual Report with a silver award in its fundraising publications category.

The University also won two District VII awards in Alumni Relations Programs: a silver award in the area of programming for special constituencies for the “C” photo entering students pose for during Wildcat Welcome; and a bronze award in the area of marketing for transitioning alumni to a non-dues-paying association.

“It is truly an honor to have the work of our outstanding staff recognized by their peers,” said Ahmad Boura, CSU, Chico vice president for University Advancement. “We have a talented and committed Advancement team that is very successful connecting with alumni, students, faculty, donors, community members and others.”

Among the Advancement staff contributing to the award-winning programs and publications were Sue Anderson, assistant vice president for Alumni and Parent Relations; Jason Halley, university photographer; Sarah Langford, public affairs coordinator; Alan Rellaford, creative director; and Nicole Williams, advancement writer.

CSU, Chico has won a wide variety of CASE awards in recent years, from a 2014 award for social media innovations during Commencement to a 2015 award for a July Fourth campus photograph. Since 2008, CSU, Chico has won 23 gold, silver or bronze CASE awards.
