Dr. Kati Geszvain is an Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences at Chico State. Before joining the faculty at Chico State, she held visiting assistant professor positions at Dickinson College, the University of Lynchburg and the University of Minnesota, Morris, teaching introductory biology, biochemistry and microbiology. Her research focuses on bacteria that convert soluble manganese into insoluble manganese oxide minerals. These are bacteria that make rocks! Specifically, her research focuses on the genetics, physiology and biochemistry of this activity as well as the potential uses of manganese oxide formation in wastewater treatment.
