Robert Smith, MSN
Robert Smith is an Assistant Professor of the School of Nursing at Chico State. Prior to joining the nursing team at Chico State, he taught in the nursing program at Butte College. He graduated with his BSN from Chico State in 2010 and MSN in 2019. He started his nursing career at Enloe on the cardiac unit and now focuses on mental health at their behavioral health unit.
His research has been directed at using mindfulness-based stress reduction to help nursing students reduce stress and burnout. He grew up in southern California in Oxnard then moved all over the US while serving in the Navy as a nuclear engineer on submarines.
Moving to Chico in 2007 for nursing school, he fell in love and never looked back. He is married, in a blended family of 4 "kids" ages 15-26 and is a foster parent. Robert is excited to be returning to his Alma Mater and looks forward to creating new relationships and collaborating with colleagues.
