Sean Nies graduated from Chico State in 2016 with a BSc in geology. During his time at Chico State, he participated in research focused on rare earth element and Fe isotope distribution in metamorphosed banded iron formation, performing geochemical analysis with colleagues in Brest, France. Outside of his IST position, Sean works excavating and preparing fossils for museum display and research. Recently, he was added to the Community Advisory Board for the Gateway Science Museum. His interests include camping, hiking, playing music, and traveling.
