New Student Orientation & Transition Programs

Alessandra Ramirez, MPA

Alessandra has dedicated nearly a decade to fostering a welcoming environment for new students through her involvement in New Student Orientation. Beginning her journey in 2016 as an Orientation Leader at California State University, Stanislaus, she quickly realized she had a passion for helping college students. Alessandra served as an Orientation Leader for four years during her undergrad and became a Student Coordinator while she completed her grad program. In her time at Stanislaus, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s in Public Administration, which equipped her with the skills to support and empower students.

In 2022, Alessandra relocated to California State University, Chico and now serves as the Assistant Program Coordinator for New Student Orientation and Transition Programs. She continues her mission of supporting students throughout their journey. She is also a lecturer for UNIV 389: Leadership Development for Orientation Leaders, which is the training course all students must complete in order to be hired onto the Orientation Team. Passionate about creating community and inclusive spaces, she strives to make the transition to college smoother for all newcomers.

Outside of her professional life, Alessandra enjoys traveling, hiking, and staying active at the gym. She is an avid reader and loves to unwind by binge-watching true crime docuseries. Spending quality time with her partner and family is also a priority for her, grounding her in the values of connection and support. Through her diverse interests and commitment to student success, Alessandra embodies the spirit of community and growth at her university.
