W-Wildcat Moment: My proudest moment thus far, would have to be my study abroad experience. Since I am a first-generation college student it seemed almost impossible for me to go abroad. It almost felt like an unreachable goal especially since I was still navigating college. During my time abroad, I got to take all of my courses in Spanish and fully immerse myself within the culture. A fun fact that I am very proud of is that during my time abroad I had the opportunity to travel to 9 different countries and about 20 cities.
I-Involvement:Throughout my four years at Chico, I have been involved in a couple of things. I have been part of MEChA de Chico State which is a club on campus. This summer is going to be my third year working with Orientation. I have worked with CLIC (Community Legal Information Clinic) which provides legal information to students and people from the community. I specifically worked in the Student Legal Service Department and worked with clients on issues concerning guardianship, name change, conservatorship, along with Title IX issues. I am currently working with the Family Law Project and we help clients deal with issues regarding divorce, legal separation, and child custody. I also work in the Study Abroad office as the Study Abroad and Exchange Program Assistant helping incoming international students.
L-Live:My hometown is Tracy, CA. I have also lived in Granada, Spain.
D-Degree:I am double majoring in Spanish and Political Science with the option in Legal Studies. Double minoring in Criminal Justice and Psychology. I am also currently on track on receiving my Paralegal Certificate.
C-Chico:I decided to come to Chico State for multiple reasons. One being that I wanted to go to a university where I could feel like I could grow as a person, gain connections, and network within my future career choice. One big factor was CLIC, Chico State offered this undergraduate internship experience that no other CSU did. Doing this internship has given me a sense of the legal field and I am also on track on receiving my paralegal certificate when I graduate.
A-Aspirations:My current aspiration is to be able to study abroad again, but this time to get my Masters in Germany. My overall goal is to go to Law school, become a lawyer, and one day have my own law firm.
T-Tell:My piece of advice for anyone coming to Chico is get out of your comfort zone, make connections, and try new things. You are the only one that can make the most out of college and you will soon find out all the opportunities that will come when you make it happen.
