In-Person Orientation Schedule

Students will have the option to attend Orientation in-person or virtually. Students select ONE of the two options when registering to attend a session.

8:00 AM Check -in

Park in the parking Garage across the street from the Bell Memorial Union (BMU). A parking pass will be emailed a few days before your in-person session. Check-in begins in front of the (BMU) Plaza at 8am.

Plan to arrive in advance and allow plenty of time for parking. Use this time connect with Orientation Leaders and meet new students. Light refreshments will also be served.

8:25 AM Welcome

The Orientation Program begins in the BMU Auditorium for all students and their parents/guests. Receive a warm welcome from the University and kick start your Wildcat journey!

9:10 AM The Wildcat Way

Students will be placed into small groups by their major of study. You’ll begin to get to know other students in your group, learn academic success, and gain other essential information about transitioning to Chico State. Parents and guests attend a separate workshop.

10:50 AM Wildcat Success Talk

Meet with key campus resources that will be vital to your success in transition to college and beyond! You’ll also gain valuable insight on how to make the most of your experience at Chico State!

11:25 AM Wildcat Workshops

A variety of campus programs will be present for you to self-select and learn more about individual resources. You’ll find yourself even more connected and supported to the warm Chico community.

12:20 PM Lunch & Campus Resource Fair

Students, parents, and guests will return to the BMU Auditorium to have lunch together. A resource fair of campus programs, services, and engagement opportunities will be available to all participants during this hour.

1:30 PM Academic College Welcome and major advising

Students will travel to meet their college representatives and receive an overview of major course requirements and opportunities.

2:30 PM Course Registration preparation

Students travel to a computer lab to receive course registration instructions and prepare their schedule for enrollment with guidance of an academic advisor.

3:00 PM Course Registration

Finalize your semester schedule and receive support registering for your future classes from university staff.

4:00 PM Program Conclusion and Final Question and Answer session

Orientation will conclude in the BMU Auditorium. Students, parents and guests all attend program conclusion with refreshments and an opportunity for any final questions.

Students participating in the optional overnight activity will depart the BMU auditorium with a student orientation leader. Space is available for the overnight sessions on participating sessions. Contact the Chico State Orientation for additional information if you have not signed up to stay the evening but are interested.
