Why should I attend orientation?

At Spring Orientation, we will review academic policies, programs, and resources, introduce you to your Degree Progress Report and connect you with other students and faculty staff in your major. Most students find this introduction to campus extremely helpful.

Who should attend Orientation?

Orientation is for all new transfer student who were admitted for Spring.

Is Spring Orientation required?

Orientation is not mandatory, but it is highly recommended as Orientation will supply important information about your upcoming college experience at CSU, Chico. We are only able to offer one Spring Orientation session.  We understand that some students may not be able to attend due to work, school or family commitments. All new students will be sent a link to On-line Orientation prior to new student registration.

Can I bring a parent or guest?

Because we want to accommodate as many new students as possible, we are NOT able to accommodate parents and guests at this session. Thank you for your understanding.

I live out of state and/or cannot attend Orientation – are there any alternatives?

We understand that not all students may be able to attend our spring Orientation session due to work, school or family commitments.  All new students will be sent a link to On-line Orientation prior to new student registration. The link will be sent to your Wildcat e-mail account.

I have special vision, mobility or communications needs, what can I do?

Students with disabilities who anticipate needing special accommodations (such as a wheelchair, sign language interpreter, etc.) should indicate the needed service when registering for Orientation. For additional information on the services offered, see Chico State’s Accessibility Resource Center.

Do I need to pre-register or can I just show up?

No, space is limited. Students must pre-register so that we have time to evaluate transcripts, prepare transfer credit reports and arrange for faculty/major advising.

Orientation is a self-supported program.  The  fees collected cover the cost of running the program including cover facilities, food, printed materials and staffing costs.

Your fees do not include travel or accommodations, so these will need to be made on an individual basis.
