Orientation & New Student Programs

Orientation Session Options

There are 2 ways to participate in Orientation. Student will have the option to select one session from the two options below:

OPTION 1 - In-Person Orientation. This full 1-day session will start at 8am and conclude at 4:30pm. It will be conducted entirely in-person on the Chico State campus, not online. Students will learn about academic requirements, meet current and new students, physically tour the campus, meet their major department, and receive support with course registration. A light breakfast and lunch will also be included. Parents and guests are encouraged to attend.

OR

OPTION 2 - Virtual Orientation. Virtual Orientation sessions will be conducted on zoom from 8:30am to 4pm.  The virtual sessions will be conducted completely online and students should not come to the Chico State campus. Students will be paired in groups by their major, meet new students and their major department, learn about academic requirements, campus resources, services, and receive support when registering for classes. A series of breaks are included in the program. Students must be present for the entire session before being cleared to register.

STUDENTS MUST REGISTER TO ATTEND AN ORIENTATION SESSION. Register and select your session date (in-person or virtual).

Attending a summer Orientation session provides you with help selecting classes, major advising, the earliest possible access to fall course registration and a chance to launch your Wildcat journey successfully. New students find the experience very helpful in managing the transition process.
