Families play an important role in students' transition to college. We know that you may have some questions about Chico State and questions about your student’s transition to the university. We encourage parents and guests to attend orientation.

During the parent/supporter session, you will learn how to support your students on their new journey. More specifically:

  • Paying for college - Understand tuition and registration fees, viewing your student account types of financial aid, cost of attendance, and ways to cover costs.
  • Academic Advising - Chico State’s advising system, academic requirements, course planning strategies, and important class registration information.
  • On & Off Campus Housing – Housing expectations combined with strategies and resources available to support students’ success.
  • Campus resources such as the Student Learning Center and First-Year Experience – Learn about Academic support in the classroom to prepare your student for their new academic department.
  • Understand available resources to maximize involvement – Recognize how your student can get involved and make their Chico State experience inside and outside the classroom.
  • Campus safety - Available safety resources designed to empower your student and support smart choices on their path towards success.

And much more! Student can register a parent/guest when the student registers at Orientation.  Please contact us at 530-898-5714(opens in new window) or orientationprograms@csuchico.edu(opens in new window) for additional questions.
