New Student Orientation & Transition Programs

Preparing for Orientation: Parents & Guests

Note: The parent/guest program is a separate concurrent program which means you will be separated from your student for part of the day.

To get the most out of your parent/guest orientation:

  • Bring a pen/pencil and a notepad.
  • Wear comfortable walking shoes and dress appropriately for Chico summer weather. We also recommend you bring a sweater or a sweatshirt, as air-conditioned buildings can get chilly!
  • Lodging is not included and must be arranged separately. 
  • Plan to arrive early to allow time to park and check in for your session. Check-in begins at 8AM in the Bell Memorial Union Plaza.
  • Be sure to park in the designated lots and pay for parking or risk being ticketed.
  • Participants who need special accommodations should contact the Summer Orientation Office at least 10 days prior to their scheduled session.
